American Black Duck |
|
The American Black Duck has some rather clever habits. This duck can filter feed while on the surface of the water. It is not too picky as to breeding grounds and will breed in a variety of wetland areas. Along with filter feeding it is also not too fussy in its food, eating seeds, roots, stems, grains, aquatic plants, insects, crustaceans, molluscs and fish. This clever duck will actually tip upside down in the water to feed at times and occasionally dive under. Its nest is made from vegetation and lined with down.
