American Bobtail |
|
The American Bobtail has a keenly distinct appearance because its name is true to its appearance. It appears to be a beast of the wild, a real Bobcat. However, its gentle, sweet, affable temperament and ready purr assure you that it is indeed a domestic cat, albeit with the appearance of a Bobcat. Apart from human interference, it has a short tail, and it is not from the result of selective breeding or cosmetic enhancement. It has white or beige fur with crystal blue eyes and black area on its tail and ear tips. It is a delight to withhold, both for the irony of its appearance, and its readily affectionate temperament. It is what a wild-looking animal shouldn't be, sweetly endearing. The body type ranges from medium to big, and it has natural musculature and athletic natural ability. Everything about its anatomy is strong, broad, and robust. The American Bobtail is akin to the stocky, short, squat guy that no one wants to engage in a barroom brawl. Its fur coat stands up well against water, and all of these qualities tend to combine to make it an ideal outdoorsy cat. Unlike some other domestic cats, it takes a good couple years to mature, sometimes three, so it is adorable longer than most cats. They are very adaptable, flexible, and resilient creatures with a bit of the warrior poet in them. In other words, they're noted for their extreme intelligence and dogged adaptability. These are the ideal companion cat, having found ready companions in long haul truckers that sometimes take them along for the ride. These are not your average dainty housecoats. They are used in psychotherapy also because they are so intelligent, sensitive, and welcome to newcomers. They have an eye for someone in turmoil and like to be of any service they can. Some cats are aloof, but the American Bobtail, ironically, is not. Their behavior is akin to class clowns, and they like being part of the family rumpus. They're entertaining cats, and they don't mind dogs, small children, and lots of noise and busyness. Like some dogs, they play fetch-like games and hide and go seek around the house. They are somewhat of kindred spirits with dogs because of their natural outgoing demeanor and fondness for traditional dog-like things. They can be trained to walk on leashes and go on walks too. They adore shiny things so keep anything valuable out of reach. Overall, this cat makes a fascinating creature and is a good purchase for a family that is interested in purchasing a cat for the first time. It's hard to go wrong with an American Bobtail, whatever the environment or situation.
