American Curl
The American Curl, of all domestic cats, has unique ears designed by no human. Rather, mother nature, in her infinite wisdom has given the American Curl ears which are so distinctive that people break out in laughter, a giggle, or delight when they see it for the first time. Indeed, its name comes from its ears which curve back forming an arc that is hard to forget. Its tail, too, is reminiscent of peacock feathers or a bunch of plumage. It extends out for quite a bit and fans out with silky luster, tapering as it nears the backside of the cat. These two features, on the top and bottom, make it a favorite of opulent, wealthy, well-to-do pet owners. On first discovery, it looks a bit alien, but no cosmetic enhancement has rendered this unique look. No breeder can match mother nature on this look. This is the perfect personality for someone that does not want an aloof cat because it aware of others pets' feelings, acts doglike, and always seeks out the attention of its master, most often when the master is busy working on something, trying to nap, or watching television! This cat retains its kitten-like qualities well into adulthood with some breeders referring to it as the Peter Pan of cats. Its natural niceness and people-oriented personality make it ideal for a pet owner who just needs a friend. Some cats are lethargic lap cats whilst others like to do nothing more than be alone. The American Curl complements its unique look with a cheerful personality. You might know a Curl from birth because its ears remain straight for 3 to 5 days until they gently start to curl back. They gradually blossom at 4 months of age. The arc angle can be anywhere from 90 to 180 degrees. It has eyes that look like walnuts, a body that is rectangularly-shaped, and a soft coat that lies flat down. The Curl can range in color all through the spectrum including white, black, blue, red, cream, chocolate, lilac, chinchilla silver, shaded silver, chinchilla golden, shaded golden, blue-cream smoke, classic tabby pattern, mackerel tabby pattern, seal point, and a motley group of tabby variations. Some people may think that this unique breed has existed for thousands for years, but unspectacularly enough the reason why many people don't recognize it is because it has only been around since 1981. Since its inception, local, national, and international media has picked up on this unique breed that has inspired so much fascination in the breeder and owner community.
