American Tree Sparrow |
|
The American Tree Sparrow feeds on seeds, berries and insects. Although, oddly enough, during the summer the American Sparrow feeds almost exclusively on insects and other small animals. But then come winter it turns entirely vegetarian eating only seeds and plant matter. It eats on the ground or in low shrub areas. The American Sparrow nests on or near the ground making its nest from moss, grasses, bark and twigs, then lining it with fine grasses and feathers. This little sparrow breeds in open scrubby areas near trees.
