Anna's Hummingbird
Anna's Hummingbird is a small woodlands bird that likes to feed on flower nectar, small insects and tree sap. They are also found in human feeders. Nesting in open urban and suburban areas this hummingbird builds an open cup of twigs held together with spider web and held together with leaves and lichen. This clever flier can hover in mid-air as it sucks nectar from flowers or plucks insects from the air or spider webs. On occasions insects can become impaled on the hummingbirds sharp bill mid-flight causing the bird to starve to death.
