Australian Silky Terrier

The Australian Silky Terrier is a small and compact short legged terrier. Historically this dog was bred for hunting and killing rodents a trait still strong in the breed today. An active and alert breed these dogs make excellent family pets. Keen to play and fetch a ball it is important to keep them busy to discourage boredom. The silky's long soft hair is susceptible to tangling and matting so regular grooming is necessary. Although their fur can grow to the ground, typically owners trim it to a much shorter length for the purposes of manageability.
