Balinese
The Balinese is a Siamese in a luxurious, flowing ermine coat! It has the same penetrating deep sapphire- blue eyes, a white to cream-colored body, and striking points of lilac, blue, chocolate, and seal patches on the face mask, tail, ears and legs. The Javanese is the lynx-point version of the Balinese, and shows its tabby markings as stripes in the point colors; they exhibit every color of the rainbow including red, cream, tortie, cinnamon, fawn, etc. Like the Siamese, the Balinese are intelligent, active, playful, attention-getting cats. But along with the softer lines afforded by the longer coat and plumed tail, they are also softer spoken, chatty though they are. Social like the Siamese, the Balinese need to be with people and love attention. Their playful antics have led them to be called the "clowns" of the cat fancy. They are docile and loving with children and anyone who will shower them with attention. They are more gregarious than the Siamese and fit into family circumstances well. If living alone with people who work and are out of the house most of the time, they may become depressed, despondent, and lonely, and so may need a cat companion in those circumstances. Genetically the Balinese derive from the Siamese as a one point genetic mutation for coat length that occurred by accident naturally in both the USA and UK. They are an inquisitive, high- energy cat, adept at leaping to great heights, soaring through the air, and landing gracefully with complete dexterity. They are somewhat dog-like in that they will come when called by name, and also fetch, catch, and retrieve balls, paper wads, and other toys. Like their Siamese cousins, the Balinese is a lithe, muscular, graceful cat with considerable energy, spunk and a lot of love to give.
