The Wilson's Snipe has a distinctive bill which is extremely long It uses this to probe in the soil and mud, frequently sticking the entire bill, and sometimes its head, under water. It swallows small items without withdrawing its bill. Wilson's Snipes are found throughout the US and into Canada, Alaska, and the northern US tier and some winter in the central and southern US, Mexico, and Central America.
