Karn




KARN (ref. 124) Karn is an extremely handsome and dignified 7-year-old male German Shepherd Dog. He is good-natured, alert, obedient and very trainable. He was brought to Derby RSPCA Centre when his owner became too busy to look after him due to a change in circumstances. When Karn first arrived here he lacked confidence when it came to meeting strangers, suggesting that he probably hadnt mixed much with people. However, he is now much more relaxed, enjoys being stroked and is growing ever more confident. Poor Karn has spent the last six years living all on his own in a kennel and therefore has never needed to be house-trained, but being a highly intelligent grown-up dog he is likely to be far easier to house-train than a puppy would be. He already knows several commands and is admired wherever he goes. Karn appears to have missed out on life to a certain extent and is gradually learning the ropes in much the same way that a puppy would. Every walk is a voyage of discovery, rather as it would be for a pup, but being a mature adult, Karn doesnt get excited but takes everything calmly in his stride. His attitude towards cats is rather nervous, suggesting perhaps a total lack of previous contact with them. His attitude towards dogs is friendly but slightly reserved, suggesting again a lack of previous contact, though his tail certainly wags when he meets them and he has never shown any aggression towards them at all. Karn would be suitable for a sensible home where any children were aged over 15 years. Obviously he will need to be walked and exercised regularly. He is a thoroughly good lad who deserves to be welcomed into a loving home instead of being shut outside in a kennel all on his own. Adopting him should be a very happy and rewarding experience indeed.
