Kitten attacked by Pitbull is given a chance at life




A stray homeless kitten was attacked and mauled by pitbull being walked by its owner.Bystanders screamed at the dogs owner to force his dog to drop the kitten or they would call police.The idiot only then pulled the kitten from his dogs mouth and ran with his dog. Kitten was taken by the bystanders to a Stockton animal Hospital. We received a phone call from a worker at the hospital that whispered into the phone that the hospital had not done anything for the kitten in the 2 1/2 days they have had it. No pain meds or antibiotics. The hospital had called the animal control to pick up the kitten to destroy it So the kitten wasnt worth a few drops of medication. I cant describe how enraged this made me. Literally sick inside. The caller brought the kitten me. His leg was so infected by this time he was at risk of losing it. Due to neglect the infection had also gone systemic. I immediately gave subcutaneous IV fluids, two kinds of antibiotics( one for deep tissue wound and another for systemic infection) which are safe together. Then I rushed him to my Vet for full body xrays. I cried when I saw the xrays showing his shattered leg bones. He also had sustained deep upuncture wounds to his chest, but all had missed the lungs and heart. Several days of med and around the clock care, he was strong enough for surgery 9 days after the attack. His surgery required pins be placed in the broken bones. Some of the broken bones were too small and had to be aligned as best as possible to heal on their own. Here is a movie of Sinbad 3 weeks after surgery Can you belive that this was a kitten distined to die at the pound? A kitten considered to be no more then a throw away and unworthy of medical care? Where are the Veterinarians in the field for the true love of animals?
